Kenneth Oliver Sanborn (b. Apr. 30, 1913, Tamworth, N.H.-d. Dec. 25, 1990) received his commission as 2d lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1937 and advanced through ranks to major general in the U.S. Air Force in 1955. He served as chief of staff of the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base from 1965 to 1968, and assumed command of the U.S. Air Forces Southern Command in June 1968. Hernando Currea Cubides (b. Dec. 7, 1919, Bogota, Colombia), Colombian Army officer and politician, was Chief of Staff and Commander of the Army in 1968 and became Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in 1969. He later served as Minister of National Defense from 1970 to 1974, and as Ambassador to Portugal from 1975 to 1979.
